Brian Patrick Murphy was born and raised just outside of New York City in an Italian Irish household. Growing up he balanced his passion for performing with his love of athletics. After passing on the opportunity to play collegiate sports he decided to pursue his passion and earned his Bachelor of the Arts in Theatre with an Acting concentration from Fordham University at Lincoln Center.
Most recently he earned a CT. Critics Circle Nomination for his work in The Engagement Party at Hartford Stage, directed by Darko Tresnjak and written by Samuel Baum. Prior to that he appeared as Buckingham in War of The Roses directed by Austin Pendleton.
His television work can be seen on Law & Order: SVU (NBC) directed by Mariska Hartigay, Billions (SHOWTIME), Seven Seconds (Netflix), Blue Bloods (CBS), The Mysteries of Laura (NBC) and the pilot episode of VINYL on HBO directed by Martin Scorsese. Recently released film work includes Albanian Gangster directed by Matthew Brown Back in the Day starring Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover where he played boxer Vito Germano. Other Shakespearean Theatre credits include Proteus in The Two Gentlemen of Verona presented by The Drilling Company at Bryant Park and Laertes in Hamlet at 13th Street Rep. Prior he starred in and produced the Off Broadway World Premiere of The Clearing directed by Drama Desk Winner Josh Hecht. From 2011-2013 he competed in New York's Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament and after fought underground in Friday Night Throwdown.
Upcoming projects include the pilot Mine's Betta (Co-writer, Producer, Director), Waiting for Sunrise a short film (Actor, Writer, Director) and GIVEnTAKE (Director/Producer) an interview series hosted by Dominic Chianese Jr. featuring guests such as Laurence Fishburne.
